　　Commenting on the accountancy standards for phase two of Government’s Trailblazer initiative for apprenticeships, ICAEW Executive Director of Learning and Professional Development, Mark Protherough, said:
　　“We have reached another milestone for apprenticeships with new standards for accountancy apprenticeships being launched today. There is still some way to go with the Trailblazers project, and we are working with employers and other professional bodies to ensure new employer-designed apprenticeships are robust and can equip people with the right skills.
　　“With GCSE results out tomorrow, it’s vital that young people, and those supporting them, ask whether their next step will ensure they develop the right skills that employers need. The UK is turning a corner in the availability of apprenticeships and other non-university routes into professional careers. More resources are needed to communicate the benefits of all career options to young people, so they have as much access and opportunity into a professional career if they want it.”
